A report by Francisco Palóu to Rafael José Verger, Guardian of the Colegio Apostolico de Propaganda Fide de San Fernando concerning missions administered by the Colegio in Baja California. The report mentions difficulty with and fear of the Indians. The bulk of the narrative consists of answers to Fray Verger's questions regarding the population, supplies, and military forces at each mission and the treatment of Indian pearl divers and miners. Palóu also notes the spread of measles among the Indians and the consequences.

Francisco Palóu was a Franciscan missionary who, along with Junipero Serra, was involved with the building and development of several missions throughout California during the late 18th century. He would eventually become president of all the California missions.
